Born in Beijing in1957, Cui Kai obtained a Masters Degree in Architecture at Tianjin University.

Has worked with the Architecture Design Institute of the Ministry of Construction (1989-2000) and has been chief architect of the China Architecture Design & Research Group since 2000.

He is vice-president of the Architectural Society of China and is a deputy member of the Union Internationale des Architectes. He has lectured extensively and is a professor of architecture at Tianjin University and at Nanjing University.
