Born in 1962, Kanika R'kul received a BSc in Interior Design from Southern Illinois University, USA in 1984, and a MA from the Southern California Institute of Architecture, USA in 1991.

She has worked for Morphosis, Leigh & Orange, established Spacetime in 2004 and has won several awards.  She was one of 12 architects chosen to design a villa for the Commune by the Great Wall, Beijing.
