A00 Architecture was founded in 2004 by Raefer Wallis and Sacha Silva. Their reputation for innovative and iconic projects has allowed them to develop a diverse portfolio that includes the modern conversion of historic warehouses, feature restaurants and lounges, luxury spas, retail stores, design hotels and private retreats.

The firm is most well known for its modern conversions of Shanghai’s historic houses into highly personalized residences. A00 Architecture is also known for their research in environmental sustainability and its application to their work in architecture, interiors and furniture.

Since 2006, they have been pioneering the development of modern rammed earth construction (SIREwall™) in China. URBN Hotels, Shanghai is no exception and features many of the environmental ideas and techniques that A00 has been developing in Shanghai.
