Ron Arad

Born in Tel Aviv in 1951, Ron Arad is an industrial designer, artist and architect.  He studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem between 1971-73 and the Architectural Association in London from 1974-79. He is Head of Design Products Department at the Royal College of Art in London.

In 1981 Arad co-founded ‘One Off’, a London practice and showroom, which became an experimental laboratory for his designs, including several one-off designs such as the Tom Vac chairs, Victoria & Albert chair and works for Vitra and Moroso, later works include chandeliers for the Swarovski Crystal company that can display text messages sent via LEDs operated by SMS, and tables that climb walls.
