This two-story 3,230-square-foot residence includes a double height reception and dining area, six bedrooms, three bathrooms, an office, a media room, a library,  playroom, and spa room.  Nestled into a wooded slope, the house’s small lawn garden and private beach overlook Pont Pill creek on the Fowey estuary and are surrounded by National Trust countryside.

The architects designed the elongated timber-framed volume with a contoured concrete retaining wall at the rear. The glazed front opens onto views of the estuary. A green roof  provides insulation.  The linear plan arcs slightly to follow the land contours while the timber structure is cut into the slope and reinstated by a flat planted roof.

Pencalenick’s expert chef Lee McCallum is on hand to prepare all meals. Fresh, local produce is used whenever possible and the house has its own organic vegetable garden. All meals, as well as wines from the extensive wine cellar, are included in the rental costs.

As well as growing its own organic vegetables, Pencalenick House uses locally-sourced, organic produce. The house recycles as much possible.

The property can be rented by the day, so is ideal for every event from fully catered dinner parties, intimate getaways, birthday celebrations, weddings and sailing breaks.  Pencalenick’s beautiful private yacht is a skippered 1930s motor sailer which can take you to beaches that are difficult or impossible to reach except by boat. The chef can prepare a picnic for your trip.
