DESIGN CONCEPT
The lodge is the result of a joint venture between Voyages, the iconic Australian bush outfitter RM Williams and the Australian Agricultural Company (who have since sold the Station to Great Southern Plantations).
In 2004 Justin Long Design was commissioned to design the resort from scratch, with Pike Withers responsible for the interior architecture. The project consists of a central complex & 10 separate guest rooms, staff village & all associated services.
The concept is a modern take on the traditional Australian outback building type. The design solution is prefabricated steel framed structures clad in rustic natural weatherboards with large floating secondary roofs providing shelter from the harsh outback heat.
Situated on a 1.5 million acre working cattle station which encompasses the property adds a raw and palpable sense of adventure. More than twice the size of Luxembourg and 250,000 acres larger than the Grand Canyon, Wrotham Park Station is home to 35,000 head of prized Brahman cattle, a breed superbly suited to the environment and renowned for their high grade beef.
In combining the rich heritage of Australia's rural history and classic outback cattle station life with a premium resort experience, guests are immersed in the rugged beauty of vast landscapes and enjoy activities that showcase legendary outback life.
